For years I always wanted to travel and see the world. Who doesn’t right? Seeing new things and enjoying those moments with those closest to you. Active addiction leads us to the next fix. The only places I was going was my dealer, the bar, or a glorified drug den to numb the internal pain that never seemed to go away. I’d dream and fantasize about going places with no intention of doing anything to make that happen. I might as well just called it “Ryan Baum’s Tall Tales”. I wasn’t going anywhere and I knew it. Today’s sorrows with no hope for my tomorrows. The addict mind is very pessimistic. One day something changed. I could finally see something on the horizon. It wasn’t totally clear but just enough clarity that it gave me hope. It’s amazing what you can do when you get out of your own head. All the sudden you stop getting in your own way. Where will it take you? For this recovered addict it was spirituality, helping others, and in this picture Aruba. I’m enjoying the places I go today. Who knows where I’ll end up. I don’t need another fix, I’ve got places to go.
